Far Cry 5 offers a massive open world filled with unique challenges, eccentric characters, and diverse side activities that expand the lore of Hope County. Among these optional quests is Flavor Country, a side story mission located in the rugged terrain of the Whitetail Mountains. This mission tasks players with a rather unusual request that tests their driving precision and hunting capabilities under absurd circumstances.
Meeting Chad Wolanski
To begin this quest, you need to head over to the Whitetail Mountains region, which is under the control of Jacob Seed. Look for a location known as The Grill Streak, situated just west of the Baron Lumber Mill. There you will meet Chad Wolanski, a passionate local cook who is eager to serve unique culinary creations to the local resistance movement.
Chad explains his plan to prepare wild game for the troops but mentions he is missing the key ingredient. He tasks you with collecting meat from antlered deer, but there is a highly specific catch to his request. You cannot simply shoot the animals; instead, you must harvest the meat from deer that have been struck by a vehicle.
Tracking and Hunting Deer
Once you accept the mission, the game will highlight general search areas on your map where deer frequently spawn. The forested roads surrounding Langford Lake are widely considered some of the best spots to find these targets. It is highly recommended to bring a sturdy pickup truck or a heavy vehicle for this task, as smaller vehicles might take significant structural damage during the process.
When you spot an antlered deer near the road, accelerate quickly to hit the animal before it runs into the dense brush. Due to the game mechanics, these animals can be surprisingly resilient and might require multiple impacts to be completely taken down. If the deer does not succumb to the first hit, quickly reverse your vehicle and strike the target a second time to finish the job safely.
Completing the Collection
After successfully taking down a deer with your vehicle, exit the truck to approach the animal and harvest the roadkill meat. You will need to repeat this process until you have collected a total of four pieces of meat for Chad. If you find driving on the roads too restrictive, some players successfully utilize helicopters to crush the targets from above in open fields.
Once the required amount of meat is secured in your inventory, travel back to The Grill Streak to deliver the goods. Speak with Chad again to hand over the harvested items and watch him celebrate his upcoming feast. Completing this mission rewards you with Resistance Points for the Whitetail Mountains region alongside a decent payout of in-game cash.
